What a cute calendar. For the kids' birth month you could do 'God made Me' and do just a hand print and make it into a birthday cake-fingers are candles, palm would be the cake. You could also try to do the ASL sign for 'I Love You' for Mother's Day. Not exactly Biblical, but with the right verse or poem, perhaps?

Ooooh, great ideas! You gave me another idea just now!

"A palm branch" with green paint. perhaps in the month of March instead of 10 commandments.

I was also thinking about an Empty Tomb.

Hands palm flat, make a triangle with thumbs and index finger.

And of course a palm tilted to look like a praying hand and it could have the Lord's Prayer written on it.

Flame or dove for Holy spirit. Flame, the palm could be painted red, orange, yellow. Dove?.......

So here's an updated list, only a couple months to fill in.....

I have another idea......For July you could tip their hand sideways, so their thumb is down and fingers are facing to the right, paint them red, white and blue and have a verse about Freedom in Christ...or you could try making an eagle-similar to the butterfly with the verse, "They that wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength, They shall mount up with wings as eagles." ?? maybe ??

ok, I thought of another one... I don't know why but they keep popping up! I am usually not this creative all at once, *L*...
You could use both hands and make an Ark.

I love the tomb and the Holy Spirit ones too.

I am a Christian who celebrates the Hebrew Roots of our faith (the Holidays that Jesus would have kept). Passover comes in March or April of every year..not sure if you could somehow make a white lamb, but you could definately do the Exodus part...Moses crossing the Red Sea (two blue hands facing away from each other, with the fingers as the breaking waves, there should be a little space in the middle for the dry ground and the figure of moses could be one paited finger).

June is Pentecost and that celebrates the giving of the Ten Commandments. Also the giving of the Holy Spirit...you could do an all white hand to make a dove and maybe other places litle flames using red paint and a finger.

How about for July you can do a "footprint" with fingerprints as the toes. Walking with Jesus could be the theme.

Here is what I came up with on the Bible Handprint Calendar. I have done a handprint calendar but it was biblical. It was a lot of work but the parents loved it for Christmas.

Jan-Snowflake (God made the winter or snow)
Feb-Heart (Jesus Loves Me)
March- 10 Commandments (two palms)
April - Cross & Tomb (Jesus Died for Us & Rose again)
May - Tulips (God Made the Flowers)
June-Butterfly with Jesus Poem
July - fireworks (Thank You God for our Freedom)
Aug - Sun (God made the world)
Sept - Apples (God gives us food to eat or God made the apples)
Oct - Pumpkins (God made pumpkins) or Tree & Leaves (God made the Fall)
Nov - Turkey Hand (God Made Animals)
Dec -Baby Jesus

January Snowflake (God made the winter or snow)
Use blue index paper for the background. Paint four fingers of one hand with white paint. Stamp in a circular shape to form the basic snowflake, repainting fingers after each stamp. Then go back and stamp fingers across the first stamps in an X shape as shown on the calendar snowflake.

April - Umbrella (God made the rain)
Paint fingers and area just below fingers purple. Stamp upside down to form umbrella shape. Use marker to outline umbrella and to make a handle.

May Tulips
Paint fingers and area below fingers yellow, as shown in drawing. Paint one finger green and stamp tulip stem and leaves. Use this method to make two or three tulips.
(Painting the entire hand, as shown on the calendar to the right, made the tulips too large.)

July Fish (God made the fish)
Use blue index paper for the background. Paint hand, including thumb, orange. Keep fingers and thumb close together. Stamp horizontally on paper. The thumb will be the lower fish fin. Use marker to make a face on the palm area of the hand.

August Watermelon Handprint -
Psalm 34:8 - "Taste and see the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Watermelon Handprint - Use both hands no thumbs. Paint ring & pinkie fingers and across palms green. Paint middle and index fingers and across palms red. Lay one hand at a slight angle with fingers out and put the other hand with fingers out on top of the other fingers at slight angle to make a watermelon slice. Cut out small black circles for seeds. Lay seeds on paint while still wet or wait till paint is dry and glue on seeds.

August Sun (God made the world)
Paint entire hand yellow. Have student spread fingers and thumb apart as they stamp in one direction. Paint again and turn hand in opposite direction with fingers spread. Continue until rays are formed around the entire sun.

September Apple
Paint palm of hand red. Stamp twice to make apples. Use a fingertip dipped in brown paint to make the stems.

October Pumpkin
Paint palm of hand orange. Stamp to make pumpkin. Use a fingertip dipped in brown paint to make the stem.

October tree and leaves:
Paint child's hand and arm brown and stamp on paper to make tree. Then use fingers to stamp leaves all around.

November Turkey
Paint palm and thumb brown. Paint each finger a different color. When dry, dip index finger in red paint to form wattle. Use marker for legs, beak, and eye.

I think the September Apple would be great to let the children learn about the trinity (like the book 3 in 1) and I'm interested to read how you did baby Jesus (was is somewhat like what we were thinking or did you do it differently?)

I just painted my entire house (inside) and have family coming this week, but I really hope to make some sort of video demonstration on one of these, I know others would love it and to have a visual would make it super easy!

I was thinking of Christmas presents too, what a wonderful gift, and if you have a classroom of kids, do one a week (starting in september) then you can get them done in time, and it's not too much of a hassle...or is it? How did you do yours....all at once?

I can't wait to try out all your ideas!

I do something very simular to this with kids handprints. My assistant does the "handprints". I ask parents to send in ALL important family dates (bdays of friends family etc, anniversaries & upcoming trips) I make EACH child an individual calendar with these. Very time consuming but so rewarding on the day we give them to the parents
